Peter Johnson accepted Christ as a high school student in Keene, NH through Word of Life Ministries. After graduating from The King's College in 1977 with a degree in Religion and Philosophy, he joined Africa Inland Mission as an artist and art teacher at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. In 1984 Pete received an MA in Cross-cultural Communication (Missiology) from Wheaton College. He married Karen and together they served with Africa Inland Mission, first as church planters among the Luo people in western Kenya and then in AIM International’s US office.
Peter has served as an associate pastor in NH and at Montvale Evangelical Free Church in Montvale, NJ. For nearly ten years he served as senior pastor of Northern Valley Evangelical Free Church in Cresskill, NJ before joining the Eastern District staff in 2007. Peter and Karen make their home in Hershey, PA, where Pete enjoys painting (art, not houses), gardening, and talking to his neighbors across the fence.
